MACKIE & SYDEC AUDIO ENGINEERING REACH AGREEMENT ON SOUNDSCAPE PRODUCTS

WOODINVILLE, Wash. — August 12, 2003 – Mackie Designs Inc. (OTC BB: MKIE) announced today an agreement with Sydec Audio Engineering NV of Belgium in which Mackie will transfer all remaining Soundscape assets including brand name, intellectual property and the remaining stock of Soundscape products. Mackie ceased development and distribution on the Soundscape platform earlier this year, but has continued to provide technical support and warranty service.

With this agreement, the former employees of Sydec have formed a new company, Sydec Audio Engineering NV, which will assume all Soundscape product development as well as support and distribution responsibilities for all existing Soundscape products, including the Mackie Broadcast Professional Soundscape 32. Beginning immediately, technical support assistance for all Soundscape products will be available from Sydec Audio Engineering at www.sydec.be.
